Understanding the treatment

How clear aligners work

Invisalign uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic trays that gently move your teeth a little at a time. You switch to a new set every week or two, and each one is shaped to continue your teeth's journey towards the planned position.

Because aligners are removable, you can eat what you like and brush and floss normally. Small tooth-coloured attachments are sometimes bonded to teeth to help the aligners grip and guide specific movements.

Straight teeth aren't only about looks: well-aligned teeth are easier to clean and can help distribute bite forces more evenly. For children, an early orthodontic assessment can identify jaw and airway issues that are easier to guide while growth is still happening.

Is this right for you?

FAQs

Invisalign FAQs

How long does Invisalign take?

Many cases take between six and eighteen months, depending on how much movement is needed and how consistently the aligners are worn. Your 3D simulation gives an estimated timeline.

Is Invisalign suitable for children?

Aligner options exist for teenagers, and some younger children can benefit from early orthodontic intervention. We assess growth, jaw development and breathing before recommending an approach.

Does Invisalign hurt?

You may feel pressure or mild soreness for a day or two when you switch to a new set — that's normal and usually settles quickly. There are no wires or brackets to rub.

Can I eat with aligners in?

You should remove aligners to eat and to drink anything except plain water, then brush before putting them back in.

Will I need a retainer afterwards?

Yes. Teeth naturally tend to drift back, so wearing a retainer as advised is essential to keep your result.
