How professional whitening works
Over time, tea, coffee, red wine, smoking and simply ageing leave stains on and within the enamel. Professional whitening uses a carefully controlled whitening gel, activated in the clinic, to break down these stains and lighten the natural colour of your teeth.
Unlike over-the-counter strips, in-clinic whitening is planned by a dentist. We check for cavities, gum problems and existing fillings or crowns first — because whitening only changes natural tooth structure, not restorations.
Our patients often tell us about the Zoom power whitening they experienced at OGHA; whichever system is right for you, the focus is the same: a bright, natural result with minimal sensitivity.
Whitening is ideal if you…
Whitening works best on natural teeth with surface or age-related staining. We'll tell you honestly whether it suits your teeth.
How teeth whitening works
A clear, unhurried process — you'll know exactly what is happening and why at every step.
Check-up & shade
We examine your teeth and gums, note your starting shade and discuss realistic results.
Clean & protect
Teeth are polished and your gums and lips are carefully protected.
Whiten
Professional whitening gel is applied and activated in timed cycles while you relax.
Maintain
We record your new shade and share aftercare plus optional take-home trays for touch-ups.

Dentistry that looks at the whole you
At OGHA, your teeth are never treated in isolation. We connect oral health with breathing, sleep, inflammation and long-term wellbeing — and we plan every treatment for how it will serve you ten years from now, not just next week.
Root-cause diagnosis
Digital X-rays, intra-oral cameras and 3D scanning so we treat the reason behind the problem, not only the tooth in front of us.
Biocompatible materials
Thoughtfully selected mercury-free and BPA-free materials, chosen for long-term health as well as looks.
Comfort by design
Massage-chair recliners, a movie while you're treated and NuCalm® drug-free relaxation for anxious patients.
Minimally invasive first
We save natural tooth structure wherever possible and only recommend what you genuinely need.

Teeth whitening questions, answered
Is professional teeth whitening safe?
Yes, when carried out or supervised by a dentist after a check-up. We protect your gums, control the gel strength and timing, and monitor sensitivity throughout.
How long do whitening results last?
Results commonly last from several months to a couple of years depending on your diet and habits. Coffee, tea, wine and smoking shorten the effect; occasional touch-ups help maintain it.
Will whitening make my teeth sensitive?
Some people experience mild, temporary sensitivity that typically fades within a day or two. We use desensitising care and can adjust the treatment if you already have sensitive teeth.
Can crowns, fillings or veneers be whitened?
No — whitening only works on natural tooth structure. If you have visible restorations, we'll plan so that everything matches after whitening.
Is whitening suitable for everyone?
It isn't recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for children, or when there is untreated decay or gum disease. Very deep or grey internal stains may respond better to veneers or bonding.
