Understanding the treatment

Dental care that grows with your child

Children's teeth and jaws are constantly developing, and the habits formed early on tend to last a lifetime. Regular check-ups let us catch cavities when they're small, protect teeth with sealants, and spot bite or growth problems while they're easiest to guide.

We also look at the bigger picture. Mouth breathing, snoring, thumb-sucking and tongue posture can affect how the jaws grow — and, in turn, sleep quality, concentration and behaviour. Identifying these early can make a real difference.

Above all, we want your child to enjoy coming to the dentist. Short, positive visits, simple explanations and a calm environment help children feel safe.

The OGHA difference

Root-cause diagnosis

Digital X-rays, intra-oral cameras and 3D scanning so we treat the reason behind the problem, not only the tooth in front of us.

Biocompatible materials

Thoughtfully selected mercury-free and BPA-free materials, chosen for long-term health as well as looks.

Comfort by design

Massage-chair recliners, a movie while you're treated and NuCalm® drug-free relaxation for anxious patients.

FAQs

Children's dentistry FAQs

When should my child first see a dentist?

Ideally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are mostly about prevention and helping your child get comfortable.

Do baby teeth really matter if they fall out anyway?

Yes. Baby teeth help with eating, speech and holding space for adult teeth. Untreated decay can cause pain, infection and problems with the permanent teeth underneath.

What are dental sealants?

Sealants are thin protective coatings painted onto the chewing surfaces of back teeth to help keep out food and bacteria. They're quick, painless and very effective at preventing cavities.

My child snores or breathes through the mouth — is that a dental issue?

It can be related. Mouth breathing and snoring may affect jaw growth and sleep quality. We assess the airway and jaws and can coordinate with our ENT and sleep team if needed.

How can I help my anxious child?

Talk positively about the visit, avoid words like 'hurt', and let us introduce things gradually. Our calm, friendly approach helps most children relax quickly.
