How GFC and PRP work
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and GFC (growth factor concentrate) both start with a small sample of your own blood. It is processed to concentrate platelets or the growth factors they release, which are then carefully delivered into the scalp where hair is thinning.
These growth factors are thought to support follicle activity, prolong the hair's growth phase and improve the thickness of existing hair. GFC is a more refined concentrate of growth factors, which some patients find more comfortable.
For the best outcome we combine GFC or PRP with a proper diagnosis — checking for deficiencies, thyroid or hormonal causes — so we're treating both the scalp and the reason behind the hair loss.

DermatologistGFC & PRP FAQs
What's the difference between GFC and PRP?
Both use your own blood. PRP concentrates platelets, while GFC concentrates the growth factors released from platelets. Your doctor will recommend which is better suited to you.
Is GFC / PRP painful?
Numbing measures are used, and most people find the treatment very tolerable. There may be mild tenderness afterwards.
How many sessions are needed?
Typically three to six sessions about a month apart, followed by maintenance sessions every few months.
Does it work for everyone?
Results vary. It works best in early to moderate thinning where follicles are still active. It is less effective in areas that have been bald for a long time.
Is it safe?
Because it uses your own blood, the risk of allergic reaction is very low. It's performed under sterile conditions by trained clinicians.
