What causes dark circles?
Dark circles are common, especially in Indian skin. They can be caused by excess pigmentation, visible blood vessels beneath thin under-eye skin, hollowness that casts a shadow, or a combination. Genetics, allergies, rubbing the eyes, screen time, poor sleep, dehydration and nutritional deficiencies such as low iron can all make them worse.
Because the causes differ, a single eye cream rarely works. At OGHA we assess the type of dark circles you have before recommending treatment.
Options may include gentle peels and laser toning for pigmentation, regenerative and collagen-stimulating therapies to strengthen thin skin, targeted skincare, and lifestyle and nutrition support.

DermatologistDark circle FAQs
Can dark circles be removed permanently?
Many dark circles can be significantly lightened. Genetic and structural causes may need ongoing care, and lifestyle factors such as sleep and allergies affect how long results last.
Do eye creams work for dark circles?
Some ingredients can help mild pigmentation or puffiness, but creams alone rarely resolve dark circles caused by thin skin or hollowness.
Is laser safe near the eyes?
Yes, when performed by trained doctors with appropriate settings and eye protection. We choose treatments carefully for the delicate under-eye area.
Can deficiencies cause dark circles?
Low iron and other deficiencies can contribute. We may suggest blood tests if your history points to this.
